Professor Peter Koopman

Sex and commitment: Regulating the fate of mammalian germ cells

Professor Peter Koopman is head of the Division of Molecular Genetics and Development at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland. His research focuses on the molecular genetics of organ development and disease, in particular mechanisms of sex determination, gonad development and lymphangiogenesis.
He is an author of over 200 papers, including 5 in Nature, 7 in Nature Genetics, 1 in Science and 2 in Cell, cited over 10000 times. He is a Federation Fellow of the Australian Research Council and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
