Biography

Dr Jacques has a PhD on the epigenetic basis for variable response to exercise training in humans. During her PhD, she conducted multiple wet-lab and bioinformatics analyses such as DNA methylation and Proteomics in skeletal muscle from humans.

In July 2021, Dr Jacques was appointed as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Prof Nir Eynon’s laboratory at 1.0 FTE, at the Institute for Health and Sport (iHeS), Victoria University (VU). She has already published 17 manuscripts (four as first author, three as second author, and 10 as co-author) in high-impact peer-reviewed journals (e.g. FASEB J; J Cachexia, Sarcopenia, Muscle; Aging), 3 book chapters (all as first author), and has 2 additional first author articles under review. Her outstanding academic publication record relative to opportunity led to 185 citations (04/11/2021) and her i10 index is 7, meaning that 7 of her publications have been cited > 10 times. Dr Jacques h-index = 8 (Google scholar), and is expected to exponentially increase given the very short time since her first publications.

During her PhD trajectory she was successful in the following travel grants providing an overall AU$3500 support to attend international conferences in the topic of molecular biology: The physiological society Travel grant in 2017, Cells 2019, SECOMB 2019, and the physiological society Travel grant 2019. She was also awarded $300 for the best flash-talk at the Australian Epigenetics Conference 2021.

Her academic leadership is exemplified by being recently elected as the Australian Physiological Society council member. During her PhD she was highly involved in leadership positions such as Student Council member at the HDR committee and Australian physiological society. Dr Jacques has also been involved in facilitating a number of student events and in the organising committee of conferences including: Epigenetics 2021 (virtual), AuPS online student/ECR event 2020, ECR and student workshop for the AuPS conference 2019 and iHeS HDR conference 2018.
